Temporary Registration

There is the option for individuals to ask to be registered with the practice on a temporary basis if they are staying with someone who is currently registered as one of our patients residing within the LE3 postal area. This enables such individuals, if they are ill while away from home or aren't registered with a doctor but need to see one urgently ,to receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days the individual would need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.Alternatively the individual can attend one of the walk in centres.

An individual can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This allows the individual to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of their permanent GP. After three months the person would have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with the practice.

It should be noted that the practice does not have to accept the individual as a temporary patient although there is an obligation to offer emergency treatment. An individual cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where they are already registered
