Home Visits

Doctor's bag

Any requests for home visits should be made by contacting the Practice by 11am at the latest

Normally we will only conduct a home visit if the patient concerned is :

  • Too unwell /physically incapable of coming into the surgery to be seen  AND
  • Elderly and housebound OR
  • Terminally ill

Once a home visit request has been made the relevant GP will then assess whether a home visit is appropriate, and if so the level of urgency, based on the information which has been provided and the patient's medical history.A number of factors have to be taken into account when scheduling home visits, particularly as each of our GP's usually have lots of other patients to see during their normal clinics. It therefore remains at the discretion of the GP whether and when they make a home visit. They may decide  that alternative action is more appropriate instead depending on the circumstances.

When we are closed requests for home visits are dealt with by our Out of Hours Service
